Autobiographical Incident

Freshman Football was one of the greatest times of my life. Early into summer practices I got hurt, because Sam Gallagher fell on my ankle. I was out for a good two weeks but when I came back, I ended up starting again. We went through the whole season with no problems, blowing away the competition because we had a huge team for freshman year. There was only one problem… going into the Brunswick game we were 9-0 and they were 9-0, witch meant someone was going home a loser. The week of the Brunswick game our practices started to get longer and longer, going until at least 6:30.
When Thursday came around we were all ready to go into Brunswick and beat them. When we got off the bus we started warming up and we all knew that it was going to be a tough game. As the first quarter started we had a very hard time running the ball, and that was our feature, I mean come on, we had Alex Kovach! At the end of the first quarter we were tied 0-0. Then the second quarter came along and we still couldn’t run the ball, and then we had a turnover on the 50 yard line, and Brunswick recovered. Brunswick then quickly scored and they were up 7-0. This was the very first time all year that we were down. When we got the ball back we pounded it down the field and we scored too making it 7-7. The third quarter passed and no one had scored, so we were both ties 7-7 still going into the fourth quarter. We had a couple of turnovers back to back, but when we turned the ball over, Brunswick also did the very next plays!
On our final drive down field we were on the goal line and it was 4th down. Our coach George Pana called a time out and he asked the offensive line what we wanted to do. Of course we said lets go for it and oh boy was that a good choice! Alex scored the winning touchdown and we won the game! A PERFECT 10-0 Season.
